Laura is a landscape artist based in the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire, England.
Her impressionistic painting style expresses the energy, textures, and atmosphere of the natural world. She works in watercolour, gouache, and soft pastel — sometimes in combination — to work quickly and capture her emotional responses to the landscape.
Plein air painting and sketching are central to Laura’s practice, supported by her own reference photos. Additional 'references' include experiences of walking, climbing, kayaking, and bird watching in these beloved places. Laura is a regular painter with London Plein Air Painters.
Laura started drawing and painting in 1995, and recently completed a mentoring programme with the American artist Cindy Briggs. Additional teachers and influences: Sudeshna Sengupta, Robert Regis Dvorak, Dan Marshall, the Accademia d’Arte Firenze, regular life drawing, and urban sketching.
